Case Study 2: Image Manipulation System

    The application employs high-performance graphics sub-systems that need careful thermal management, and also requires a large number of connectors to the accommodate the variety of analogue, digital video and sound outputs.

    The client envisaged several problems with using a standard brand-name desktop or rack-mount computer systems:

  • Standard systems do not help to promote the brand of the client
  • The standard "beige box" approach did not promote an image that was in keeping with the target market
  • The layout of the standard system is unlikely to be able to provide satisfactory cooling. Additional cooling measures were necessary
  • The use of standard system necessitates a break-out box for the connectors. A break-out box can be awkward, prone to damage, and difficult to install
  • The client's business is producing solutions for their target market, they were not resouced to undertake the significant systems integration work that necessary to achieve their design goals
  • The shipping containers for standard systems were not adequate for a fully configured system, or suitable for shipping to our client's international customers

    AMC were able to provide a solution that included designing an aluminium chassis with suitable thermal management and aesthetic appeal. We also produced printed circuit boards with the necessary video amplifiers and connectors that could be easily incorporated into the rear panel design.

    Finally, all assembled systems pass through our rigorous quality control systems, and all parts are serial numbered for full traceability.

    Customer specified system testing and software installation is performed at AMC and finished systems are now shipped directly to our client's customers throughout the world.
