AMC-310 SysMon Compact Module for Remote Systems Monitoring

Specification

The AMC-310 is a Systems Monitor Module for use within AMC's range of industrial rackmount computers, offering remote control and monitoring capabilities. The SMM operation can be functionally separated into four categories:

  • 1. Sensing monitors internal system operations and environments
  • 2. Alarm generates email warnings when user defined thresholds are met or errors are detected
  • 3. Control system power cycle/reset, activation of internal devices
  • 4. Reporting remote monitoring via LAN
  • System status can be accessed for updates or alarm priority reconfiguration from a web-based URL.

    Features

    • Power supply monitoring of all internal voltage rails
    • System Temperature monitoring
    • Eight universal fan sense inputs
    • Two TTL inputs or outputs
    • Ethernet 10/100 interface
    • Email alarm generation
    • Soft power switch input
    • ATX power supply control
    • System reset
    • Two RS-232 ports for module/system parameter configuration
    • Capability of module expansion via SPI interface
    • Dimensions: 114.3mm x 82.55mm
    Operation
    • On-board or user-supplied alarms are prioritised via user definable parameters stored locally in EEPROM. The parameters can be reconfigured using the web-based GUI or serial interface.
    • Remote Programming allows Flash firmware upgrade via FTP protocol
    • Motherboard Monitoring Redundancy is maintained by the use of separate LAN providing constant motherboard status information on component temperature, condition, failure, usage etc.
    Connectors
    External I/O
    • 2 TTL compatible digital inputs or outputs
    • External DC power source input
    • 10/100BaseTX 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface via RJ-45
    • 2 RS232 serial ports, one is standard DB8 connector while the other is a 10-pin header
    Internal I/O
    • 2 TTL compatible digital inputs or outputs
    • 8-pin Molex connector (J10) for 8 tacho fan speed inputs
    • 8-pin Molex connector (J9) for connecting:
      • Soft power switch input
      • ATX power supply control
      • Soft reset input
      • Reset control
      • SPI-compatible serial expansion bus (configured by on-board jumpers)
    Power connection
    • 10-pin Molex connector (J11) for connecting
    • System power +5V standby to power the AMC-310
    • System power rails to be monitored, these are:
      • +5V, +12V, +3.3V, -12V.

    Operating Power

The AMC-310 is powered from system ATX +5V Standby.

    Power Supply Monitoring

The SMM provides analogue comparator circuitry that monitors specific system and local power supplies. The system supplies monitored are +5V, +3.3V, +12V, -12V.

    Fan Sensing

The AMC-310 provides 8 tacho sensing fan inputs.

    Microprocessor

The ARM 7 processor runs ThreadX RTOS and is used to service the Ethernet.

    RS-232 Interface

The serial communication channel is supported by two RS-232 interfaces. Either port can be used for SMM parameter configuration or for debug purpose. Either port can also be set-up to be used as an expansion bus (SPI), which allows add-on modules to be connected.

    Ethernet Interface

The AMC-310 has a network interface via a RJ-45 connector.

    Optional Modem

The SMM supports an optional modem having a dial-in/dial-out interface.
